Body Fat Calculator
This calculator uses the US Navy circumference method to estimate body fat percentage from simple tape measurements. It is one of the most practical field methods available — more accessible than calipers and reasonably accurate when measurements are taken correctly. Take measurements first thing in the morning, measure at the narrowest point for waist and neck, and at the widest point for hips.
How to measure correctly
- Neck:Measure below the larynx (Adam's apple), perpendicular to the long axis of the neck.
- Waist (men): Measure at the navel, horizontally around the abdomen.
- Waist (women): Measure at the narrowest point between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage.
- Hips (women): Measure at the largest circumference around the buttocks.
- Keep the tape snug but not compressed into the skin.
